I'd Do Anything For Love, But I Won't Do That
[ The past week had been very trying with Spock back, for a number of reasons. Not that he hated having Spock back, of course, but it was an adjustment, and was turning into a personal learning experience.
For one, he was fast figuring out that he was not meant to be a nursemaid of any kind. He didn't have the patience for it, or the beside manner - especially against a Vulcan. Of course he did it though, because Spock needed him too and he wasn't the sort to leave a friend hanging out to dry. But, yeah, sometimes it just made him realize how glad he was his career had turned out the way it had and that he kept far, far away from med bay.
Besides nurse maiding, he was having constant headaches. He figured it was from the link he shared with Spock. In his absence, he had loosened his shields - at first in a attempt to continue to feel for the link, faint with Spock being away from their little bird cage. And now that he was back, he was forgetting to keep himself closed to it. It made for pounding temples, and a part of him knew he would need to start meditating again to gain control.
For the moment though, he had a bit of time free, Spock wanting to meditate, and that being something Spock could do on his own without aid from Kirk. He was fairly sure Nymeria and Arya should be home soonish, but even then he didn't plan to be gone long. Just run some errands, get some air, and come on back.

That being the case, Kirk could be found at the general grocery store, picking up quite a few vegetables to acommodate Spock's return and his dietary choices, sitting by the fountain to enjoy some coffee in the hopes it would ease some of his headache, and a bit later, after checking on Spock, he can be seen working out in the battle dome using the forms he had been taught from his numerous teachers, which had actually started producing an interesting, if somewhat crude, mix style (which was currently being thrown at a sand-filled dummy rather than his usual holo partner). ]

Re: action; battle dome
[ Panting, Kirk turns away from his sand bag dummy, rolling his head. ]
Oh, hey Twilight. What's up?

Re: action; battle dome
Oh, you know, just getting in some exercise.
[ He stepped back from the bag, motioning. ]
You want a go?

Unless... well, we could try our moves on each other. [ She's kind of curious if she'll be at all effective in a real world setting. ]

So, feeling like he hasn't seen him in a while as well as concern, he changes paths to go to him.]
James!
Re: [action]
[ He blinks, not used to being addressed by his first name. Most people just called him Kirk, but that was fine. He took another sip of his coffee and raised his hand in greeting to the young man. ]
Yo, Luke. What's happening?
[ He offered him a smile, even as inside he was working on clamping his shields back into place to keep the headache from persisting. ]
[action]
[He sits down by him, one knee to pulled up to rest his arm over it.]
What about you? ... Are you okay?
Re: [action]
[ Another sip of coffee, glancing at the other when he asked, arching his brows. ]
Yeah, I'm fine. Why, is my face a weird color or something?

Is the first thing to cross Kate's mind when she realizes just who it is occupying the room she had intended on using in the Battledome. Either that's Chris Pine or -- jeez, Billy and Teddy were right.
People come from all over here. And that, that means...
Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise is standing right in front of her, displaying an impressive array of martial styles. And it's the young, hot one at that.
Kate gawks for a second more before regaining her cool. Leaning against her bow, she places her fingers in her mouth to whistle. That ought to get his attention.]
Looks like that dummy's a hell of a challenge.
no subject
The whistle makes him jump, having been concentrating on beating up the defenseless sand bag, turning to look at Kate. Instantly he flashes her a smile and a little mock salute off his forehead, hands going on his hips as he caught his breath. ]
Yeah, well, you know how it is. You have to fight the best to get better, right?
no subject
Chill out, Katie. You don't even know that it's him yet.
The mock salute is returned with something resembling nonchalant ease. Her eyebrows raise and she shrugs in answer to his question.]
You ever consider taking on a real opponent?
no subject
Heh, I have. I spar, but sometimes you just want to punch something that can't hit you back or sass. I like holos well enough, but some of them must have a glitch or something since I swear they laugh at me.
[ He shakes his head and comes away from the bag, grabbing a towel and wiping his hands before holding it out to her. ]
Name's James Kirk, but most people call me Kirk.
no subject
Which, she quickly reminds herself, you aren't.]
Katherine Bishop. [She accepts his hand and shakes it firmly.] But most people call me Kate.

She should have known better. Her own happiness never lasted. And maybe - maybe - it was only a matter of time before Prim left. Richard. Or Zevran. And she'd be alone here. Exactly the sort of fate girls like her deserved.
So she doesn't notice Kirk as she wandered though the grocery store, not paying all that much attention to what she put into her basket. Didn't notice anyone. Nor did she care to.]

[ Kirk found himself surprised to see Katniss in the grocery store. Someone, he had never imagined her doing something quite so... mundane, not after their numerous run ins. He thought she would honestly go out and hunt her food, but he guessed some things you couldn't get from nature. Well, at least what nature they had around them.
Her body language wasn't the usual either, not that Kirk could see. He wasn't perfect at it, but he was fairly sure something was wrong.
Quietly, he approached her, basket full of vegetables and fruits meant for Spock. ]
Hey. Fancy meeting you here.
[ He gives her a grin with a bit of charm, but really, that's not what this is about. ]
no subject
But she wasn't the only one who hunted in the woods. And as much as she considered them her sanctuary, she had been avoiding them since her break up as to avoid a certain boy. Sure, they were big. The chances of running into him were slim so long as she avoided the areas they normally hunted within together. But since when were odds ever in her favor?
She glanced up when he spoke, recognition in her grey eyes. Her lips flickered up to one side in a very brief smile.]
Hi.
no subject
I think this is about the only place I haven't managed to run into you yet.
[ He tried to give her another smile, but it was hard when something seemed wrong. ]

His style is... crude, to say the least, and Kakashi's not sure if he'd even really be able to take down a genin, but he supposes this man might not be from a world where children train in battle from a young age. It might be useful to get to know him, but for now Kakashi simply observes, leaning against a wall with his arms loosely crossed across his chest as he watches. ]
Re: action; battle dome
[ Kirk was aware of Kakashi being there, but as he was not talking or approaching, he figured he was going to be polite about it and let him finish the round. So that was what he did. Kirk knew his style was rough-cut, a mish-mash, but it worked for him. He was a bar brawler, a bruiser, but he knew enough to hit where it counted if he had to, and even better how to stay out of the way.
He paused, panting, going over to his towel and wiping off his check and neck, nodding his head at Kakashi. ]
You wanting a turn with the sand bag?
no subject
[ Kakashi pushes off from the wall then, straightening up a bit, and unfolds his arms as he nods. He hope it's not too strange for this man to have someone observe him training, which certainly would be more or less the norm back home. ]
You have an... interesting style.
[ It could certainly use a little more work and finesse, but he supposes it could work in a bar brawl or amongst civilians. Though something about this man doesn't feel entirely civilian. ]
no subject
[ Coming from Star Fleet? Nope. He had instructors barking orders at him for quite a long time, so being observed was nothing new at all. ]
Heh, you think? Thanks, I guess. A couple of friends have been showing me some moves, just been mashing them together.
[ He shrugged his shoulders and rolled his neck, popping it, wincing a bit at the sensation. ]
Name's James Kirk, by the way. But Kirk is fine, everyone calls me that.
w o o p s, i missed the notification for this! sorry for late tag
[ He gives Kirk a nod in return as he approaches him. ]
Do you just fight with your fists, or with weapons too?
