I'd Do Anything For Love, But I Won't Do That
[ The past week had been very trying with Spock back, for a number of reasons. Not that he hated having Spock back, of course, but it was an adjustment, and was turning into a personal learning experience.
For one, he was fast figuring out that he was not meant to be a nursemaid of any kind. He didn't have the patience for it, or the beside manner - especially against a Vulcan. Of course he did it though, because Spock needed him too and he wasn't the sort to leave a friend hanging out to dry. But, yeah, sometimes it just made him realize how glad he was his career had turned out the way it had and that he kept far, far away from med bay.
Besides nurse maiding, he was having constant headaches. He figured it was from the link he shared with Spock. In his absence, he had loosened his shields - at first in a attempt to continue to feel for the link, faint with Spock being away from their little bird cage. And now that he was back, he was forgetting to keep himself closed to it. It made for pounding temples, and a part of him knew he would need to start meditating again to gain control.
For the moment though, he had a bit of time free, Spock wanting to meditate, and that being something Spock could do on his own without aid from Kirk. He was fairly sure Nymeria and Arya should be home soonish, but even then he didn't plan to be gone long. Just run some errands, get some air, and come on back.

That being the case, Kirk could be found at the general grocery store, picking up quite a few vegetables to acommodate Spock's return and his dietary choices, sitting by the fountain to enjoy some coffee in the hopes it would ease some of his headache, and a bit later, after checking on Spock, he can be seen working out in the battle dome using the forms he had been taught from his numerous teachers, which had actually started producing an interesting, if somewhat crude, mix style (which was currently being thrown at a sand-filled dummy rather than his usual holo partner). ]

She should have known better. Her own happiness never lasted. And maybe - maybe - it was only a matter of time before Prim left. Richard. Or Zevran. And she'd be alone here. Exactly the sort of fate girls like her deserved.
So she doesn't notice Kirk as she wandered though the grocery store, not paying all that much attention to what she put into her basket. Didn't notice anyone. Nor did she care to.]

[ Kirk found himself surprised to see Katniss in the grocery store. Someone, he had never imagined her doing something quite so... mundane, not after their numerous run ins. He thought she would honestly go out and hunt her food, but he guessed some things you couldn't get from nature. Well, at least what nature they had around them.
Her body language wasn't the usual either, not that Kirk could see. He wasn't perfect at it, but he was fairly sure something was wrong.
Quietly, he approached her, basket full of vegetables and fruits meant for Spock. ]
Hey. Fancy meeting you here.
[ He gives her a grin with a bit of charm, but really, that's not what this is about. ]

But she wasn't the only one who hunted in the woods. And as much as she considered them her sanctuary, she had been avoiding them since her break up as to avoid a certain boy. Sure, they were big. The chances of running into him were slim so long as she avoided the areas they normally hunted within together. But since when were odds ever in her favor?
She glanced up when he spoke, recognition in her grey eyes. Her lips flickered up to one side in a very brief smile.]
Hi.

I think this is about the only place I haven't managed to run into you yet.
[ He tried to give her another smile, but it was hard when something seemed wrong. ]

Yeah, same here.
[ Okay, wow, awkward. But he didn't have enough sense just to leave her be. He would call it gallantry, maybe, but since he was sure Katniss could probably skewer him if she wanted, he was going to call it sense. ]
Looking for anything in particular? The fruits don't look to shabby this week.

Her lips quirked into the beginnings of a grin. A very brief grin, one that was so very easy to miss.]
What fruits?
