STAR TREK AU - KIRK & CABOOSE [ LOCKED ]
Most of the time it was pretty easy to please his boyfriend of the past several years. You could toss a ball of colorful string at him and he could keep himself entertained for hours, which was both adorable and sometimes worrying, depending on the situation. But he wouldn't change him for the world - he loved coming home to that happiness, that blissfulness. And now that he had a long enough break, he thought he would do something to please him that would be - well, special.
Never mind that it was their anniversary. Yes, Kirk actually remembered and kept track of that. That was how committed he actually was to this, which came as a surprise to much of his crew the first time he had remembered. Kind of a surprise to him too, but love did strange things to a man didn't it?
He looked over to Caboose, reaching out to grasp his hand as he angled the car for the exit that would take them to the surprise he had in store - a trip to the biggest and best amusement park just outside San Diego (an hour was just outside, right?).
"Excited?" he asked him, giving his hand a squeeze as he made the turn onto the drive that led to the theme park's parking lot.

"Excited?" he asked him, giving his hand a squeeze as he made the turn onto the drive that led to the theme park's parking lot.

Head tipped back against the seat, he grins at Kirk and squeezes his hand back.
"Yes! And this is nice too, y'know. I always like going on road trips with you. Even when the destination is a surprise."
no subject
"I think you'll like it," he promised as they rounded a corner, the bright walls of the theme park and ahead of them, a castle poking up in the distance. "You can see it now," he jerked his chin towards it, mouth twitching upward in a smile, waiting for the reaction.

"Is- is it behind Disneyland? Or-" he holds his breath, eyes growing wider as hope fill them with all of the childhood dreams of a kid often teased with the idea of going to Disneyland but finding themselves at a dental office instead.
"O-or is it- is it Disneyland? ! Oh please oh please oh please-"
He’s almost bouncing in his seat from the excitement.
no subject
"Yes, it's Disneyland," he assured him. "I even got us a hotel for a couple days so we can take our time and enjoy it."
It had cost a pretty penny, but a Captain's salary was good and he wanted to do this with his boyfriend, give them time to actually enjoy it. One day wasn't going to be enough, and even if it was, they could spend the rest cuddling in the bedroom or hanging out by the pool. So long as he was with Caboose he didn't mind. He had it planned so they could enjoy the park for awhile before going to check in at the hotel and could come back in the evening for dinner and fireworks.

Face flushing with joy, Caboose almost has to physically restrain himself from leaning across to give Kirk a hug- he's learned not to do that while driving but after a moment of excited glee he leans over and instead gives Kirk's cheek a kiss. The rest will have to wait until they park.
no subject
He leaned into the cheek kiss, giving a self-satisfied smile.
"Just remember we don't have to do everything today," he chuckled as they got in line to park, Kirk pausing to tug out the parking pass he pre-paid for to flash to the attendant. "We'll go to the park for a bit, and then we can go check in and come back tonight, and we have two more days to do whatever want." He knew Caboose could try and pack things in when he was over excited, so it didn't hurt to remind him to take it slow.
He went up the guided path and slid into the parking spot, taking the moment to lean over and kiss Caboose on the lips before getting out.
no subject
"Right! We've got time to do all the things and- and still have time." Still giggling a little to himself he leans into the kiss with a grin, giving Kirk's hand one last squeeze before hopping out of his side of the car.
"So! Where do you wanna go first? OH- Have you ever been here before?"
no subject
"Nope, never," he told his lover. Yeah, like uncle Frank would ever have taken him here. He would have had to give a crap. "Why, have you? Because if you have we should do your favorite rides from last time - give me the Caboose tour." He kissed his cheek again just because he could before passing over his confirmation code to pick up the packet with their VIP ticket passes, sliding the blue band onto Caboose's wrist and the yellow onto his own.
no subject
"Nah, but I always wanted to. I used to try and plan it out with my little sisters but I wasn't allowed to go with them when they went. Step dad's orders, y'know." Caboose pouts a bit at the memory but it's swiftly followed by a smirk as his grin returns, giving Kirk's hand a warm squeeze. "But it's not like anybody really gets too old for Disneyland, right?"
no subject
They got through the check point and entrance gates, Kirk snagging a map for them and moving a bit to the side of the entrance to open it up, displaying the wonders of Disneyland for them both, the wrist bands offering a holo display of character appearances when hovered over certain parts of the map. Kirk made a mental note of where the Castle was in reference to the hotel entrance. They didn't want to be late for dinner...
"What looks good first?" he asked his boyfriend. "Want to head over to the Matterhorn?"
no subject
Caboose tucks an arm around the small of Kirk's back as they look over the map, chin resting lightly on his shoulder. "Ooh- We could do the big rides first! Work our way out into the park that way and then taking our time on the way back."
no subject
"Hmm, sounds like a good idea. Do all the big rides, go check into the hotel, come back for the slower rides and dinner and the fireworks show," he nodded, turning his head to kiss Caboose's temple. "Lead the way, babe."
no subject
It wasn't all bad though, having his own space allowed him to get used to himself again. And he didn't have to worry about disturbing anybody whenever Kirk came to visit. Well. No one except his neighbours that one time. When Caboose had moved in with Kirk his recovery got a whole lot easier; and since then they've only gotten better.
Beaming at the kiss Caboose shifted closer to wrap both arms around Kirk to give him a quick squeeze of a cuddle, lips pressing briefly to Kirk's cheek before he lets go. "Mmmm Okay!" And in true Caboose spirit, he takes off in the direction of the Matterhorn with a cheer over his shoulder, "Race you there!"
no subject
Yeah, Kirk knew all about Caboose's step dad. He'd met the man, and he wasn't a fan. He'd resisted punching him square in the teeth - but only just. He loved the rest of Caboose's family though, the way he was with his sisters. He envied him for that relationship, his own family a mess. Mother absent, uncle drunk and verbally abusive, his brother abandoning him to his uncle's tender mercies at twelve when he needed him the most. He didn't speak to any of them. Didn't want to. His family was his crew now, was Caboose. It was all he needed.
Laughter burst out of him, easily swept up in his lover's enthusiasm. It was impossible not to be, and he never fought it. He took off after him, catching up when the crowds slowed them, his arms tangling around Caboose. The waiting was made bearable with his endless cheer, with little kisses and nuzzles, fits of laughter. It was warm and he didn't care, wanting the other against him, playing with his fingers, etching the joyous contours of his face into his mind.
Fuck but he loved him.
"Almost there," he whispered in his ear, nipping as they started moving and were directed to their seats.
no subject
To be honest, Caboose liked the waiting before the rides. It was nice to be close to Kirk in the idle moments, to see how he could make his boyfriend smile and snicker which in turn made Caboose grin and giggle. Everything felt brighter when Kirk was smiling. Naturally, Caboose could sometimes get a little carried away in trying to keep his boyfriend that way. Which makes it a good thing that Kirk is also more aware of their surroundings than he is.
The nip is enough of a jolt to usher Caboose ahead and into his seat with a light flush painted across his cheeks. Buckling in, he's almost bouncing in his seat again while the ride attendance give the carts a last look over before the ride starts. As the ride's lock bar comes down, Caboose holds his hand out for Kirk's.
"So. Excited. This is the best."
no subject
His hand slid into Caboose's, gripping tightly. Teeth flashed in a bright smile as the coaster began the clicking noise that meant they were beginning the first climb.
"Remember to scream and put your hands in the air!" he told him, eyes bright as they came to the pregnant pause before gravity took over.
no subject
Caboose grinned, giving Kirk's hand a squeeze as he turned his gaze forward to the lip of the curve ahead of them.
"Of course! That's the best pa-aaaAAAAAAH!" And down they go with a rush of air and adrenaline and still holding Kirk's hand Caboose's arms move to shoot up while their car hurtles down the tracks.
no subject
He raised his arms up, hooting and screaming with Caboose as they were whipped around, the clack and rumble of the classic coaster drowning out their cries. Twist, turn, swoosh, zoom, up and down. The whole ride was maybe five minutes, if that, but it left him breathless and flushed.
They got out of the car, Kirk smoothing his hair back into place as they made for the exit. He pulled Caboose along to the photo section and laughed when he saw theirs, pointing it out to him.
"What do you think? Kodak moment?"
no subject
Following close behind Kirk as they make their way to the photo kiosks, he snickers and punches the button for 'print', offering his wrist band for the charge to be added to his tab as he gives Kirk's hand a squeeze.
"YES. Lets go again!"
no subject
The price was outrageous, like everything else here, but it was their vacation, so it hardly mattered. At least to Kirk. He just smiled, taking the photo, putting it in the little paper holder offered with it, and tucked it into a pocket inside his jacket.
"Okay, but don't you want to try the others first? We can come back around and do the singles line later, it'll be faster," he promised him, slipping his hand into Caboose's once more as they funneled out into the masses once more. "Splash Mountain?" he suggested, pointing to the ride not far off, the screams audible from where they were, the splash of water from the touch down.
no subject
Caboose grins, giving Kirk's hand a squeeze and taking a larger step to catch up so he can give his boyfriend a kiss on the cheek.
"I'll follow you anywhere!"
no subject
A laugh, warm and happy. He had spent so much of his life flittering from one person to the next, afraid to settle, to commit himself. He had spent a long time trying his best to make Caboose the same - a passing fancy, an interest that he could disentangle himself from when it became all to much. But in the end, Caboose had carved himself a place in Kirk's heart, and now he couldn't do without him.
"Is that so? What if I end up having to go to the moon? Or Venus? Or even New Vulcan?" he asked, brushing a stray lock behind Caboose's ear before walking them towards the next ride.
no subject
"Then I would go too!" Snickering a little, his hand finds itself around Kirk's waist again as they find their places in the next line.
"Do you think the Enterprise would notice if I tagged along in like, a side car like the old timey motorcycles?"
no subject
"Heh, maybe. That would look pretty funny," he ruffled his hair, tugging him along.
The rest of the rides passed in something of a blur, flitting from one place to another, usually with one more picture in his pocket, stopping for a few characters along the way. Kirk couldn't remember the last time he'd had a day purely about fun an enjoying something. So much of his life was wrapped up in Star Fleet, and that usually involved part of his day having to do with work or researching something or making a report. Even when he was home with Caboose he would something small to do here and there, unable to keep his hands out of it. But this was different. This needed to be just them, all about them, and nothing else filtering in through the edges. It was going to be a special weekend, and he owed it to Caboose to be his entirely, not have his attention split, no matter how small that fraction might be.
Eventually they left to check into the hotel room - a large suite with a perfect view of the park and the surrounding grounds. Picturesque was the word Kirk thought the website had used to describe it and it certainly lived up to it. It even came complete with two Mickey towel creations holding hands on the bed. They had time to settle their things and change their clothes before heading back into the park for dinner at Cinderella's Castle, which was a fair bit more ornate than one might expect, but it was Dinner after all.
A glittering hall, tables dressed in shimmering fabric to mimic Cinderella's dress, drinks served in crystal glasses and plates made of the same, sculptures of crystal mice holding up the candles, wrapped with pink ribbon. All allusions to the film, he was sure, but he hadn't ever actually watched it. Still, it made quite the picture and that was what counted. He would just have to trust the recommendations of the rep... and normally he would never consider doing this kind of thing, but Caboose was... special. Very special. And when someone was special and you loved them, you wanted this moment to be something they'd never forget, that they'd truly appreciate, so any ordinary way of going about this simply wasn't going to do. In fact most ordinary guys wouldn't love Disney quite this much, but hey, he wasn't dating an ordinary guy, he was dating Caboose.
"How's your dinner?" he asked Caboose as he cut into his own steak. God he missed real meat. Well, the stuff on the Enterprise was real, but the term was used very loosely.

And then there was the room, looking like it was right out of a movie just from how clean and neat and pretty everything was. It took a few reassurances from Kirk that it was alright for him to come in and sit down or touch some of the decorations. The room was so fancy, Caboose had to make a mental note to remember not to freak out the next morning or think he's still dreaming when he wakes up there.
After a quick wash up and change into fresh clothes, they're off again and- oh, what a dinner hall it is. His sisters would be so jealous if they could see! And the food. Caboose almost melts in his chair at the first bite, a pleased hum escaping his lips as he smiles.
"It tastes amazing! I wish I could keep eating this all the time. How about yours?"
