What is it?

A cure, of sorts. It won't work on all plants, but if used sparingly with the right ones . . . it should revive them.

_{[ Kirk's eyebrows went up, considering the chemical, and feeling...
glad, of course. Of course he was glad. But it felt anticlimactic to be
doing all the work he had been doing and suddenly have the answer handed to
him. ]}

Who made it? And how is it supposed to be administered?

Misty did. I doubt she can make large quantities and it is magical by nature, so the chances of it being recreated are low.

[ He folds his arms under his robes. ] But it should be enough if we stop the terraformers.

_{[ Magic. He really, really disliked that word, but on some level it
made him feel a touch better about this. That was petty thinking, and he
knew it. He should be grateful for what he has, and the fact they do have
one... ]}

Hopefully so. But just on the safe side... I might use a little to get an analysis and see if we can't recreate it through scientific means. That would put less stress on this Misty as well, and give the locals a way to reproduce it after we've left.

That's why I'm passing it along. You probably have more research underway.

I think we have some promising leads. What information we have gotten is surprising, actually. But I think we'll know much more once we get into those terraformers. Or at least have some theories confirmed, which is better than nothing at all.

From the looks of things, outside corporations got their hands involved with the moon and it spiraled from there.

Well, nothing to do about that. It's already happened, and we should focus on what we can do for them now before Atroma decides to shanghai us away.

I assume you have a plan in mind?

Something like that. At the end of the day, it will depend on the people here. We can offer a solution, but we can't force them to accept or use it, either.

[ Hm. Obi-Wan had said that before, when they last talked. ]

No, we cannot. It is their home, in the end.

_{[ True enough. He had never doubted that, but he was still determined
to at least offer them a solution. He couldn't force it on them, true, but
he felt it their responsibility to at least give them options on their path
forward. ]}

Oh, well enough for the most part. I did a few trips to the moon, breaking into the offices there. Currying favor and whatnot.

Huh. And here I thought you were a straight and narrow kind of guy.

Jedi can be anything the situation calls for, within reasonable moral limits.

[ And really, he was there because Padme was there and Obi-Wan wouldn't let anything happen to her. ]

Nothing that I haven't already told you, I'm afraid. The maintenance for the machines is terrible. And it seems deliberate.

There always has to be someone or something out in the universe looking to make things difficult. And worse, putting people's lives at risk..

Did you get any clue as to why?

I assume a corporation came in and in the end, wrote them off.

[ It's standard practice, though a deplorable one. Obi-Wan has seen it before, many times. ]

Well, good thing we showed up then, right? A corporation might have written these people off, but we won't.

No. I don't think anyone in the Fleet would have done that.

[ He wished the Jedi were here. It made action easier. Not that he's never acted alone, but he finds himself self-conscious of his title here. ]

They don't even have to be Fleet. It's just the right thing to do.

_{[ He shrugged. ]}

And that's all I've ever tried to do.

Jedi serve. And because of our special . . . abilities, it's important for us to be neutral.

Star Fleet is supposed to be neutral. But there are times... there are times when neutrality, I think, is just as bad as being the one causing harm.
