Well, he and Cyril had fumbled around and shared a quickie once, but that
had been it. There had been flirting in between, but he wouldn't call their
current relationship sexual by any means - more flirtatious without serious
intent on his part.
He looked up when Sam came closer, not moving away from the contact. His
chest loosened, the thorns tearing up his insides retreating and his
breaths coming easier, less strained as he fumbled with emotions. So, it
was a similar arrangement to themselves, though perhaps a bit more
explicitly stated. Kirk didn't think he could ever give Sam such a verbal
assurance. It was said in looks and touches and their love making, but
saying it aloud would make it real. And if it was real then what would
happen to them both when the time came for him to go back into the stars?
No, best to spare them both that pain and just enjoy the moments they had.
He smiled and leaned against Sam, enough to touch their shoulders, reaching
down to touch his thigh. "I'm all right with it if Cyril wants to join us
time to time. But I figure you'll want your alone time with him now and
then too, so considering that -" he pursed his lips in thought a moment,
his earlier discomfort obviously soothed and banished. "Well, maybe we get
a colored ribbon of some sort, or make a little wooden plaque to hang on
the door or the stair to let me know when I need to either go back to the
pub for a few hours or find another place to sleep for the night."
It wasn't as if he was there himself every night, just most nights. It was
part of the understanding and he would hardly begrudge Sam that same thing.
And Sam didn't expect Kirk to verbally state anything either, and he simply didn't because... it seemed easier for Kirk. He doubted it would feel any better when the time came, but he wouldn't begrudge Kirk his bit of security, wouldn't put that kind of weight on him.
A bit more tension leaves when he feels Kirk lean into him and initiate more contact, glad to hear that the sour note in his tone gone. "Hm. I suppose we'll have to come up with a better system. We didn't exactly iron it out before..." Considering Kirk was the only person he was sleeping with during the time. "I'll... or we'll have to talk to Cyril? I don't think either of us will be against you... being around," for obvious reasons, "but this is also your room at this point. It needs to be a fair system." Because honestly it was no longer just his room that Kirk was staying in, but rather their room - just like it was their bed.
