A Troubling Tribble Time [ AKA: Kirk's Back ] [ action - open to all ]

[ Beware, residents. There is a new creature in your midst.

It is round and fuzzy. It sits oh so innocently by the fountain, maybe oh so innocently begins to work its way across the square, following whatever senses it might have towards food. It is slow. It is patient. It shall have what it desires soon.

That is, if nothing interferes.

Because, frankly, there's not much it can do about it. The trials of being a tribble. ]

[ ooc: Kirk is back everyone, and he has been turned into a tribble! He is quite harmless, and if you pet/touch him he will begin to purr. But he is also hungry! So beware. Food left unattended is at high risk! ]

[Spock stands, watching B'Elanna with poorly hidden concern. Grabbing a blanket, the Vulcan puts it over top of the cage that the tribble is in, hoping to quiet it. He needs to get to the bottom of this.]

[That screaming is fraying every one of her nerves. And B'Elanna looks incensed as Spock just tries to cover it up. As if that would help.]

I'll say it one more time, Spock. That thing can not stay here! Get rid of it or I will!

Why? You are not being rational, Miss Torres. Please explain yourself.

[He stands in front of the cage, just in case B'Elanna tries to take matters into her own hands.]

[B'Elanna stares at Spock.]

Don't you know what that is?

Of course. It is a tribble, a harmless creature whose sole function is to eat and reproduce. The real question is, why are you having such a violent reaction to it?

[Seriously Spock?]

Because its having a violent reaction to me! Didn't you just see what it just did?! I'm not living with that!

I am merely curious. This creature has been in contact with several people today, but you are the only one that has merited this reaction. Why?

Perhaps it is because you are Klingon? Do you not have tribbles on your homeworld?

[Give him a break B'Elanna, he's a scientist.]

You really don't know? Your crew were the ones that discovered it.

[In her reality anyway.]

It's a well known fact that tribbles don't like Klingons, so yes. In fact, the Empire destroyed the tribble homeworld in their attempt to eradicate them.

You seem to keep living under the misunderstanding that I am from your universe. You are speaking of an event that has either not happened yet, or never will because of the changes...

However, I will not forget this.
[He looks at the screaming cage, then back at B'Elanna.] You destroyed the homeworld? Is that not, excessive?

Now who's the one that's misunderstanding? I'm not the one who did it, the Empire did.

[She snorts and looks away.]

Everything they do is excessive. Does that really surprise you?

[Spock holds up his finger in the universal sign for 'just one moment', and removes the cage, putting the entire contraption in a closet, then closing the door.
The room is finally, blessedly silent.
The Vulcan then stands in front of B'Elanna.]

I am sorry.

[B'Elanna seems to relax a bit after the screaming fluffball is moved into the closet.]

Just... keep it away from me.

[Usually Spock would let her go, but his curiosity kept him rooted.]

I will do my best. However, I would be interested to know the events regarding the Klingon's trouble with harmless tribbles...

You mean the constant screaming isn't enough?

[She sighs and folds her arms.]

In our universe, your crew discovered an uncover Klingon spy because of those things. And when your ship was infested with the tribbles, Montgomery Scott beamed them all over to the Klingon ship. It was a hate/hate relationship ever since.

[Spock tilts his head.]

Fascinating... I wonder if that same event will transpire in my universe now. I doubt it though, too much has changed.
[The Vulcan regards B'Elanna for a moment, hoping he isn't missing something.]

Forgive me for prying, but I wonder... besides the tribble, are you doing well?

[That last question brings pause.]

I'm fine.

Very well. Please, excuse me.

[The Vulcan bowed his head, and took the screaming tribble into another room.]
