AOS - Kirk x Bones: It's Getting Hot In Here
Jim had never run from the gym so fast. And he had had to book it from the pool or off the bars or the simulation chamber to the main deck more times than he could count. A captain was really never off duty, no matter what the roster said, especially not in a red-alert emergency. Today, though, was no red-alert. At least, not for anyone except himself.
He wasn't even particularly sure it was happening. A tingle that built at the base of his spine, spreading around to his stomach and down his hips, feeling a particular ache build between his cheeks and his thighs. When was the last time he had felt like this? Months? It had to have been, he thought to himself, rapidly rolling through a mental calendar. Yes, definitely months. Which was probably not normal, but there had been so much going on in the past few months - so many brushes with death, either of himself, his crew, or the universe at large. This particular area of space had really been putting them through their paces and just about every normal, healthy cycle for a human had been thrown off. For him, at least.
Including his heat.
Which was why he suddenly felt so unprepared when he felt it rise as he was running on the indoor track, working on his cardio. Adrenaline was the only thing that kept his legs beneath him as he quickly exited the area, aware of more than a few hungry eyes on him. They didn't worry him - all his people, alphas included, had more self control than to jump an omega going into heat, though he wasn't sure how many of them had known until just that moment that their captain, of all people, was an omega.
Brilliant.
Somehow he made it to his cabin, thanking the stars for being captain and people naturally getting out of his way along with the area around hid cabin being largely clear. Less people to stare, to wonder, to have to explain anything too.
Shaking, he made his way to his desk, panting as his legs trembled. He tapped the screen, tapping the call for Bones on his private communicator line, gritting his teeth.
"Bones. I need to see you in my quarters. Immediately." A beat. "Bring your hypo."

As it was, he couldn't even remember his dreams. But from the state of his underwear and pants when he woke up, they had been of the carnal variety. Soaked. Front and back. He could smell his own slick. At least his heat didn't come raging back to life first thing, his head clearing as the sedative was finally parsed. Groaning, he managed to slide out of his clothing and dump it to send to the laundry service, hoping no one asked to many questions. Which if he thought about it he shouldn't have sent it down, but his mind was still hazy from the drugs as he stumbled to the sans shower to try and clean himself up.
He cursed as he smacked his head against something - damn the sedative was stronger than he had thought. Shaking his head, he let the sans shower do his work, taking a look in the mirror when he was done. Wow, who knew he could flush that much? Which did not help matters when it came to his heat. Fuck. He could feel it rising again as the sedative drained, his body trembling again.
No. No come on, why was it this bad? Anxiety mounting, he stumbled to his desk, tapping at the screen for Bones' private call number.
"Bones. My quarters. Now please," he managed to hold it professionally together before practically running to his bed to try and curl up in cool sheets.

All day his mind was with Jim, though. Kept drifting back to him, mostly out of concern, but a small part of him was admittedly turned on by the mere knowledge that Jim was in heat, and he hated it. He hated how it was starting to affect his concentration, how it was changing even the way he acted in a way all too familiar to him. But he fought the urge, which thankfully for now was manageable thanks to the inhibitors he himself took.
Still, it did nothing to ease the way his heart leapt in his chest when Jim contacted him again. It had been nine hours now since he was in his quarters, so that had to be at least a full eight hours of sleep, which was almost unprecedented with Jim. Admittedly, he was almost afraid of the state he'd find Jim in, but he went anyway, readying himself mentally before he unlocked the door and stepped inside, looking around briefly and then making his way to the bed where Jim was curled up. "Gettin' worse?"

Embarrassment rushed up for a split second, though he knew Bones would tell him not to be. This was just a physical reaction, one he couldn't control (well, he could, but it wasn't like this wasn't exactly normal for an omega). Even so, he hated the idea of Bones having to see him like this, breaking what he had always liked to think was a sort of suave, always in command kind of image.
"What's the saying? If it doesn't go away after four hours, call your doctor?" he tried for humor, smiling weakly.
no subject
"Unfortunately I don't think calling your doctor's going to fix anything this time," he said, though he didn't mind Jim calling him. He'd rather he did that than just sitting here suffering from this. "Your levels are off, which isn't surprising. I can't tell you how much worse it's going to get, but it's likely to get worse, at least in the next two or three days. You're running a slight fever so I'll give you something to lower your temperature, and we should make sure you eat something and drink some water, at least."
no subject
"Worse?" he asked, voice rising in a whine. "Fuck I don't think I can even think about food or water...How do they not have something to make this just stop by now?" he growled.
There was a sure thing he knew would make it stop - being bred. But he wasn't a general part of the crew, to ask a friend to ease it. He could ask Bones, had thought about it even - was this close to just jumping him in fact.
"You don't have a miracle up your sleeve for me?" he asked, trying his best to crack a grin.

It was probably going to be a while. This wasn't even as bad as it was going to get. But he didn't point that out, mostly because it wouldn't help, but also because he had a feeling Jim knew.
"Not this time, Jim. I'm sorry." He sounded as useless as he felt, but he knew that he couldn't offer the one thing that might ease this for Jim, not even if Jim asked him. Not with the consequences it would bring along.

"You're addled enough that you might not realize the consequences, but I do. I've risked a hell of a lot in my life, Jim, and I've lost a hell of a lot too. I'm not gonna risk our friendship too, even if it might solve this problem for you in the short run."

Turning so his aching groin pressed into the sheets and he could hug his pillow and groan aloud into, he let the shudders wrack his body. This was going to be a long few days, wasn't it?
"Just... just come check on me every once in awhile, okay? I know what I'm saying now, but later... later I won't, and I don't know if I'll have the presence of mind to call you either..." He could feel the hormones rising again, tugging the rational parts of him down, down, down...

Still, he couldn't help feel a little bad for how miserable Jim seemed. He wanted to offer a comforting touch, or a gentle word, but what good would it do now? It'd just make things worse for Jim, most likely. So he quietly tugged the covers up to Jim's shoulders, tucking him in as comfortably as possible.
"I'll come by to check up on you, I promise," he assured him. Maybe not as often as Jim would like, and probably less and less the more intense his heat got, but he'd try his best. "Try to drink water often. Make sure to eat, too. If I can't come here too regularly, I'll contact you."
