Character Name: James Tiberius Kirk
Series: Star Trek: Beyond (AKA Star Trek AOS or Kelvin Timeline)
Age: 32
From When?: At the end of the Star Trek Beyond movie

Inmate/Warden: Warden: Kirk is well known and respected in his universe as a captain with a good heart, integrity, and compassion. He takes pride in being a leader and acting as someone for others to look up to and be worthy of that regard. He encourages people to be their best and believes in everyone’s ultimate ability to do good, and believes in teaching moments. There are no ‘no win’ scenarios - especially when it comes to people.
Item: Star Fleet issued communicator

Abilities/Powers: N/A

Personality: First and foremost, Kirk is a charmer. He enjoys playing the part of gallant hero as he explores parts unknown, and is free with compliments and flirtation. You get more flies with honey than vinegar, after all (though Kirk is careful to keep his flirting to a minimum with his crew). His flirtations and easy compliments are genuine in nature, but also act a shield to keep those around him from seeing too deeply into his own feelings. There are notable exceptions such as Leonard McCoy and Spock, but for the most part Kirk tries his best to portray a happy, jovial, and fair-handed captain who whole-heartedly supports his crew. He finds this especially important in moments of crisis, when the crew needs to see him cool, calm, collected, and certainly not panicking.

In the same vein, Kirk is extremely loyal to the crew of the Enterprise. He views them as his family, and feels a great sense of responsibility towards them. He does his best to embody the values of Star Fleet and be a good man, to be a pillar for them in times of crisis and to make the right choices. He would never ask them to do anything that he would not do himself, and often leans on his crew to help guide him with advice and their expertise. He relies on those closest to him to help keep him in check and pull him back from a dangerous edge. Essentially, he believes that his crew help to make him a better man.

Though he has mellowed since his more erratic first days as Captain, one thing that has remained constant is his strong sense of justice, and the need to do what is right - even if that means sometimes breaking the rules. Kirk usually abides by them and sees the logic in them, but he doesn’t believe that rules should get in the way of doing what is both moral and ethical. It’s earned him the ire of quite a few within the fleet, including the upper echelons, but he doesn’t let it bother him. He would feel more disappointed in himself and his crew if they left a situation they could have helped in.

On the whole, Kirk is optimistic and cheerful. He prefers to look at a glass half-full than empty, and is excited by the possibility of new discoveries and interacting with new species and cultures. He thrives on the uncertainty of the unknown (in most cases), and the endless adventure that is his profession. His adventures and time in the Captain's chair have given him better control of his emotions, though at his core he can still be quite sensitive. He feels deeply and passionately, both positively and negatively, and can sometimes make irrational decisions because of this. He does tend to see the error of things after the fact and will make amends where he can if he’s not talked down from making the error in the first place.

Confident (and just a bit egotistical, but every captain has just a bit of that in them), Kirk is a believer in Star Fleet and his people. He refuses to believe in no-win scenarios, and will fight for his friends, and those in need. The mission is never more important than the people around him (with a few rare exceptions), and he will sacrifice himself before asking that of his people. There is good in everyone, and he wants to see the best in them, and while people must face the consequences of their actions they are not above redemption in some form.

Barge Reactions: Kirk will not remember his prior time on the barge.

Given that Kirk’s entire job is exploring unknown space and seeking out and encountering new forms of life, and the fact the he has met an alternate universe Spock, the varied types of people and the realities of their world will provide more curiosity for him than anything. He would enjoy being able to speak with them and learn more of how their worlds function, though he might squint just a little at the idea of ‘magic’ (because certainly the phenomenon being produced can eventually be explained without such an ambiguous term). The Barge itself won’t be all that odd either as he has spent the last five or so years of his life on a space-ship (though the luxury style of the quarters will be a nice upgrade).

Any reaction to a flood or breach will depend on the nature of the event. Strange happenings, dangerous situations, and events that might otherwise alter a person’s perceptions or environment have happened plenty aboard the Enterprise. Kirk and his crew have always managed to adapt and overcome (though a regular occurrence of these will strike him as concerning to be sure). Kirk is likely to attempt to take charge to some degree and work to keep everyone calm and get through the situation as a team as best they can with minimal casualties.

Deal: Kirk’s first ask for any deal would be for Vulcan to be brought back. He views the loss of Vulcan as his first and greatest failure, on top of the traumatic loss it was for the Federation, and his best friend’s people. Even though they have a new colony, it is not their home planet and Vulcan’s return, he believes, would give the Vulcan people as they are the best chance of continued recovery and thriving.

Barring the Admiral’s ability to grant that particular deal, he would ask for the resurrection of Christopher Pike. He views Pike as a father figure, and knows Pike was important to many others within the Fleet (especially on his own ship as Pike captained her before himself). Pike still had much to offer the world at the time of his death, and Kirk feels he had much yet to learn from him, as well as feeling guilty that Pike was even in the position to be killed. Pike would not have been in the meeting hall where Khan attacked if Kirk had not been demoted for his immature and rash actions as a young captain - so he believes.

Sample Journal Entry: [ Kirk presents a very professional sort of face when he pops up on the feed but then he is a captain, and a captain should be professional. His outfit of a simple white t-shirt beneath a well loved leather jacket doesn't precisely match said professionalism, but hey, he makes it work. He flashes a million-watt smile, raising a hand in hello. ]

Hello everyone. This seemed the quickest way to make introductions given the circumstances, so here I am. My name is James Tiberius Kirk, but you all can just call me Jim. Or Kirk. I'll answer to both honestly.

I'm a new Warden here, and I hope to be of help in whatever way I can. Which I suppose is the point of us being here at all, right? I'm still learning the ropes, but don't hesitate to reach out. I don't bite, I promise.

[ He feels he deserves some points for not going for the obvious punchline at the end of that sentence, but his smile suggests he's definitely saying it mentality. ]

Now, what does everyone do for fun around here?
