There was every chance that Jim was lying to him just so he wouldn't go out and seek revenge. But what Jim said also tracked, especially considering how he'd reacted after James put on that blindfold. Maybe he really didn't know who it had been that had done those things to him-- not that it would dissuade James from trying to find him.

Not that it mattered right in that moment. All he wanted was for Jim to feel safe again. He couldn't heal what had been broken in him so easily, but he wanted him to know that at least he had a safe haven in him.

"Shit," he shuddered from head to toe, holding Jim a little tighter. Tears of pain and anger both welled in his eyes, and he sucked in a sharp breath. "It's fine, baby. You're fine. Not gonna let anyone else hurt you again, I promise you."
