It would take more time for Caboose to regain all if not most of his mental growth but chances were regardless of his recovery if he had the option to see or do things from a more carefree and childlike manner, he would. Because the last time he felt well and truly safe and whole was when he was younger and carefree, surrounded by family who would keep him safe from most of the dangers out there in the world. Now with Kirk, that frame of safety could grow and mature to better match him. That they've come so far together spoke to just how much his relationship with Kirk had helped his recovery. Not just that, but made the last four years so much better than the ones before them, nightmares and all.

Caboose almost jumps when the prince approaches their table, shooting Kirk a semi-frantic glance across the table before the man starts his grand speech. His ears turn a little red from his blush when the ring is presented and it takes a moment for his voice to come out without stuttering too much before he says, "U-um- Uh, n-no thank you. I ah- I'm sure you're very nice but I already have a Captain who makes me happy. He's right here."

Caboose tilts his head towards Kirk, giving his boyfriend a small but adoring smile through the blush slowly making its way from his ears to his cheeks.
