SANCTUM IC CONTACT

You've reached Kirk Industries, Inc.
Just leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
If this is personal, well, do the same - except you've called James Kirk.
Re: Text; Morning - 175
He got up from the couch where he had been working with bits of wire and metal, stretching, dressed down in jeans, bare feet, a white shirt and a simple blue button up over it, sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
He popped open the door, blinking at the pretty girl on the other side for a second before his characteristic grin flashed. ]
I think I should start ordering things more often.
Text; Morning - 175
[ The grin has her withholding a sigh, and she's ducks away a moment to pull free her tablet -- and hide the roll of her eyes. She knows his sort all too well, for all that Kirk is certainly easier on the eyes on some she's known. ]
Kirk, James T. That would be you, I presume?
Re: Text; Morning - 175
[ He continues to lean on the door, at least having the good grace to focus on her face rather than be a cad and look her up and down, though she was quite pretty. ]
One and only. But most people just call me Kirk, or Jim.
[ No one ever needed to know what the T stood for. ]
Text; Morning - 175
Then I hope you're not getting cheated with this particular order. Sign here, please.
[ The pad flicks open; the dial spinning up to accept thumb print signature, while Carolina offers a stylus - in case he doesn't feel like signing with a finger. ]
[Jim. Hmm.] Kirk. Hmm. Recently arrived, are we?
Text; Morning - 175
Your concern is appreciated.
[ He puts his thumb to the pad, used to such things. Standard practice in his time, he wasn't surprised it was used here as well considering their tech advances. ]
Yeah, a few weeks now. That obvious still?
Text; Morning - 175
[once signed, there's several bands of colour across the holographic HUD, before it PINGS cheerily. Job's done. The package is then offered.]
And since you haven't moved out yet, that means you're either looking for work, or saving for something bigger. [which does not necessarily equate to better]
Re: Text; Morning - 175
This is for work.
[ He waved the package at her after taking it. ]
It's for a commission. I build tech for people, or fix it, whichever they need and will pay me for. It's not so bad here, once you get used to it. I've lived in worse.
[ Not by choice. ]
Action; Early Afternoon - 175 (figured this should get updated whoops!)
[ she still has her old apartment here, after all. NOT that she'll be mentioning that to him. ]
A tech commission. Huh. Quite the tough market you're trying to crack.
Re: Action; Early Afternoon - 175 (figured this should get updated whoops!)
Maybe, but there's always a space for cheap prices and good work, you know?
[ He tapped the box against his chest, leaning against the frame still. ]
Hard work never hurt a body, and I smile. I don't think many mechanics smile.
[ Which he did just then to prove it, all charm. ]
Action; Early Afternoon - 175 (figured this should get updated whoops!)
Well, tip for you, for your future projects - next time you do want internal components, I recommend Wazashi's off D3's media square. Less likely to sneak extra charges on you, good rep for quality parts.
Re: Action; Early Afternoon - 175 (figured this should get updated whoops!)
Working for myself, just trying to make it in a new world.
[ His head tipped a bit at that, giving her an appraising look, and then he nodded his thanks, smiling softly. ]
Thanks, I'll remember that. It'll come in handy with some of these other projects I have going. Do I get a discount if I say you sent me?
Action; Early Afternoon - 175
[And he might be - he seems to have that same quirk that York does, easy going enough that with enough gift of the gab, he could probably talk someone into a good deal that works very well in his favour.]
Right now, I just keep my eyes open. Never know when you might pick something up that might be useful. After all, we're all just trying to get by.
Re: Action; Early Afternoon - 175
I like to think I am.
Hmm, I hear you. Seems kind of crappy of them to bring us here against our wills and then tell us we have to fend for ourselves, you know?
Action; Early Afternoon - 175
Well, you get a room. And a generous starting bonus of credits. [oh whoops, her sarcasm is showing, dry though it is. Her head shakes slightly] That certainly makes up for kidnapping and unlawful body modifications being performed without consent. They brought us here for a reason, but don't seen too keen on letting us know more about how. Even when they enlist people.
By the way, [she snaps the datapad closed, tucking it back into her coat] if they send you outside, pack your own rations. And don't eat any meat if offered by anyone who's survived outside the walls.
Re: Action; Early Afternoon - 175
"Generous" is a relative term, and no matter how much they give me, it doesn't make me happy being kidnapped and operated on - again. There are inter-galactic laws against that, last time I checked.
[ Huff, huff. Yeah, he's not happy about it, even though he doesn't want to leave these people in the lurch either. He's not heartless. He would have put everything his crew had behind helping find a cure if they'd come upon this planet. He would do it now - if he was simply asked. Being forced left a sour taste in his mouth. ]
And I'm not convinced that the reason they say they brought us here is the only reason they want us - any of us.
[ But maybe he was just paranoid. It was a logical reaction, right? ]
Uh... okay, I'll remember that. Though I didn't think anyone could make outside the walls. I thought that was the point of the dome.
Action; Early Afternoon - 175
[She's not going to comment on intergalactic law - for one thing, law structure differs between universes and time lines as best as she can tell. For another, Bifrons was hardly in a position to obey them - assuming anyone outside of Zeus was prepared to make them.]
Of course we're not. But the threat they've talked is real, even if exactly who started whatever war that wrecked this place is unclear. Poor bastards who've turned into Dysthrope exist, and as of right now, there's no way to turn them back. Once they're too far gone, that's it. Only one way to put them down. [there's no humour now, just grim fact] Proles would prefer to pretend everything outside doesn't exist. Bifrons don't like to mention there are people outside who've survived in spite of how bad it is - admittedly, not many of them, at least not in range of the Dome. That we know of.
Oh, and they're cannibals.
Action; Early Afternoon - 175
[ He flaps them, as if the other could have possibly missed the canary yellow feathered appendages. ]
Cannibals, huh? They sound like a delightful bunch.
Action; Early Afternoon - 175
[ And wings, to boot. Part of her can't help but find that a modification as bad as the ports, distrust, dislike, distaste evident in her expression.
And hidden away, an ever so fleeting whisper of envy follows, wondering if those wings had ever allowed him to fly. ]
Aside from their leader, they weren't much for conversation. He was an ex-callsign. [and now, likely dead. even if they didn't have 100% proof of that..] ..And it says a great deal that I still couldn't tell you who the greater monsters are in this scenario.
Action; Early Afternoon - 175
[ He felt the same way, really. Even worse because they weren't simply grafted on. They were woven into his nervous system, as as much a part of him as a bird and its own wings.
And once, they had, but only the once. ]
I think it says that when it comes to survival we make allowances, sometimes. Can't imagine anyone turns to cannibalism because they want to you.
Action; Early Afternoon - 175
[ It could be so much worse, she knows. But that doesn't make this any better, and bitching about it certainly won't change things now. ]
Eating dysthrope to survive? [headshake] I think I'd rather jump off a cliff. [if only because she trends towards having a higher survival rate than most that way]
Well. It was nice meeting you, Kirk. No doubt we'll run into each other again.
Re: Action; Early Afternoon - 175
You'd be surprised.
[ And he left it at that, nothing more. ]
Yeah, it was. Hopefully next time not because I had to order something in, huh?
Action; Early Afternoon - 175
[Unfortunately, that would be thanks to personal experience here. Experience she'd really rather she hadn't had. ]
Who knows, maybe I'll end up handling a delivery for you. So long as it's not too large. [her bike can only handle so much after all. She extends her hand, offering it in shake] No doubt we'll run into each other again. Most immune tend to stick together.
