omg I'm so sorry I fell off the face of the earth

That makes Steve laugh; he can't help it. "No, no - you're safe there. I meant 'outer space,' honestly. It was all science fiction as far as I was concerned - for most of my life, at least."

He does, admittedly, say outer space like someone's grandpa. So, sorry about that, Jim.

But he does not mind the other taking the opportunity to cop any sort of feel, especially when things are still a little unbalanced, one might say, between them. He might sound like a grandpa sometimes, but he is not a prude. Plus, it's just reasonable - he doesn't want his passenger to fall off.

"I'll take it easy on you," he says, with a bit of a grin in his voice, and revs the bike, getting them moving out of the garage, down the long drive, past another pair of guard stations, and onto the street.

As promised, it's not far - which is good, because they can't exactly talk on the way over. Not that silently enjoying the other's company isn't nice, too, really. But soon enough, they pull into an alley off a well-lit street that's busy, but not too busy. Most of the places are small little boutiques or eateries, but there's a bar on the corner that's not exactly a dive, but definitely isn't the kind of place that has a line out the door or a bouncer standing guard. It's got clean, classic lines, and it might be a little busy inside, but the live music is quiet and instrumental, and the patrons are all smartly dressed in essentially the same level of casual officewear favored by SHIELD.
